FEBIAN BRANDY has gone from being one of the hottest young talents in English football to helping clubs unearth the next big thing.
Brandy, 36, didn’t quite hit the heights after nearly 15 years on the books at Manchester United.
The tricky forward was thought of as one of the brightest sparks in the English game, lauded by team-mates and chased by the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
But injuries meant that Brandy never played a professional game for Man Utd.
He instead had 16 different clubs across multiple countries before retiring in non-league.
However, he has insisted that he has no regrets over how things worked out, after it was that journey that led him to create Skouted – an app that helps unsigned players find a club to give them an opportunity.
Brandy told SunSport: “I always saw myself playing for Manchester United, I didn’t really know anything else.
“I only really knew Man Utd and England. So when it did come to an end it was hard, I was upset.
“But I thought to myself, for my career, this has to happen. I didn’t want to be one of those players that was 23/24 and signing contracts just to be at a big club.
“I wanted to go and make a name for myself elsewhere. I was obviously upset, but it was something that had to be done.

Man Utd had turned down a £1million bid from Barca when Brandy was just a teenager, a deal rejected by Sir Alex Ferguson after the iconic manager asked Brandy if he wanted to stay put.
Barcelona had come sniffing after he had impressed in a youth tournament involving the Catalan club, Real Madrid, PSG and Ajax.
Brandy explained: “About two weeks after the tournament, some Spanish guy – I don’t know how he got the number – rang my mum and dad’s house phone.
“My mum picked up and he said ‘we’re interested in your son Febian.’
“Another two weeks later I went into training and Sir Alex Ferguson walked past me in the corridor and said ‘have you heard?’.
“I had a feeling what he was talking about, but you have to be respectful so I played dumb. He said ‘Barcelona are interested in you, what are your thoughts?’
“I said, ‘listen, boss. I’m a local lad. I’m from Manchester and I see my career here, this is the place that I want to be’. Then he just slapped me on the head, called me a good lad and walked away.
“Things started to come to fruition in the weeks that followed, and I think they [Barca] made a £1m bid, which obviously Sir Alex rejected and I didn’t hear anything of it from then.”
Manchester-born Brandy ultimately left United in 2010, where he had come up through the youth ranks alongside the likes of Ravel Morrison, Jonny Evans and Danny Welbeck.
Just 22 at the time, Brandy had gone from training with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville – players he recalls being like “big brothers” to him – to trying to find his next club and the next step in his career in the lower leagues.
Brandy had lined up a deal with Sheffield United in the Championship, but broke his metatarsal in the last minute of his last game for Man Utd’s reserves – scuppering the move.
Instead, after seven months without a club, he found an opportunity with Notts County in League Two.
From there injuries meant Brandy was never able to settle at one club, kickstarting a journeyman career that saw him play in Greece and Thailand as well as for the likes of Sheffield United, Rotherham and Rochdale.
It was during that time of bouncing around from club to club and constantly battling injury that Brandy realised he had to start thinking about his future, which led to the idea for Skouted.
He recalled: “When I was in my late 20s I had been battling with so many injuries and I started to think about my future.
“I didn’t really want to be a coach or a manager. That’s when I started to put Skouted in place.
“I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset and I think what really triggered it was that when I was at Man Utd, I was pretty fortunate to be there as long as I was.
“I was fortunate to get a contract every year from the age of eight until I was 22.
“I had friends that might not have been good enough to make it at Man Utd, but they might have been able to go and play at a lesser club.
“But when they got released their parents or their guardians didn’t have the connections to pick up the phone to someone in the Championship or League One and ask for a trial.
“That’s when I thought to myself, ‘I need to create something that’s going to bridge that gap between players and clubs’.
“Something where football clubs can find these players and players have got a platform to present themselves in front of these football clubs.”
That’s exactly what he did, launching Skouted after hanging up his boots at non-league Ebbsfleet in 2017 and turning his attention to helping the next generation of talent.
The app allows young players to upload clips of themselves playing, with top clubs then browsing through the videos to see if there’s any potential there.
While Brandy has also begun to organise showcase games where young stars train together and are invited to play in academy competitions in front of top-level scouts – including the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea.

In fact, a recent entry into the SuperCup, formerly known as the Milk Cup, saw his side of hungry prospects grind out a 2-2 draw with Manchester United U16s with just four weeks of training – resulting in eight players being invited to trials at top clubs.
It was that same competition that Brandy had played in as a teenager, winning player of the tournament over the likes of Sergio Busquets and Bojan – sparking interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Brandy doesn’t know exactly how many players he has helped get an opportunity, but estimated that Skouted has helped in excess of 300 club-less players earn professional trials across the globe.
He wants Skouted to be seen as a “breeding ground” for talent, and can already point to players that are now tied down at the top level thanks to the app’s help.
Arsenal youngster Louis Zecevic-John, who has signed a scholarship with the Gunners academy and represented both England and Serbia at youth level, found himself on the Skouted app before getting his shot.
Brandy explained: “Louis was picked up by one of the Skouted scouts and we put him up with a Championship club, who ended up not being too keen on him.
“But after that he was picked up by a Premier League side before signing a two-year contract with Arsenal.
“He was actually on the Skouted app a few years ago, it just goes to show that we know what we’re talking about.
“He went from Regents Park, to the Skouted App and now he’s gone on to sign for Arsenal”.
Now Brandy is planning on expanding his platform for the women’s game too, with plans in place to put on a female showcase game this year.
For the former England youth international and two-time Saint Kitts and Nevis cap, it’s all about getting talented players back on the pitch.
He added: “Everyone wants to sign a Messi or a Ronaldo, but the reality is that they’re rare gems. But my experience at Man Utd helps me know what level top clubs are still looking for.
“Some of these players don’t know what to do, and their parents don’t know what to do. In terms of how they can get involved in the football system.
“We’re not saying we’re going to turn everyone into a Premier League footballer, but what we’re trying to say is there’s a level out there for people to play football.”
JEFF Brazier looked downcast during a phone call after it was revealed that his son Freddy is living with nan Jackiey amid their family feud.
The TV presenter, 46, looked tense during a round of golf in Essex on Wednesday.
Freddy, 20, has reportedly been living with his grandmother for the past week despite his parent taking legal action to stop him from seeing his grandparent, Jackiey Budden.
Earlier today, Jeff appeared in low spirits as he hit some golf balls on the course.
He was seen pushing his clubs bag around and then stopped to take a phone call in the car park.
The ITV star looked deep in conversation during the chat.
He wore navy trousers, a pale grey zip-up jumper and a Callaway cap with grey and black trainers.
Freddy was just four, and his EastEnders actor brother Bobby five, when their mother Jade Goody died from cervical cancer in 2009.
The Big Brother legend passed away at the age of 27 with the two boys then raised by their dad.
Jackiey and Jeff have clashed several times over the years before The Sun on Sunday revealed that the former Dancing on Ice contestant had taken legal action following concerns for his son’s wellbeing.
It now appears the spat may have deeper implications.
After Bobby turned 22 on June 2, a source told us: “Bobby celebrated his birthday with dad Jeff and step mum Kate over the weekend.
“It was a really nice family occasion but everyone really missed Freddie.
“He was of course invited but he is making his feelings quite clear at the moment about who he wants to be spending time with.
“He did acknowledge that Bobby’s birthday online but there was some sadness that he wasn’t there with his brother.”
It came shortly after Freddy appeared to take a swipe at Jeff and said: “Home is where the heart is.”
Earlier this week, we reported how the pair were captured in a dance video.
In the clip shared on TikTok, a shirtless Freddy and his grandmother can be seen dancing around in the garden of her South London home.

Now Freddie has returned to the platform today with Jackiey in a slideshow video captioned: “Why don’t we fall in love.”
He uploaded a series of individual images against the backing track to Amerie’s song of the same name.
It kicked off with an image showing him and Jackiey, who was donning a black vest top and cargo trousers rolled up to the knee, walking down a cobbled London street.

A source told the publication: “Jeff was never going to keep Freddy away from his Nanny for very long – they’ve always had a strong bond.

LOVE Island’s newest recruit Meg has admitted she was supposed to go on the show as a bombshell last year.
Payroll specialist Megan Moore from Southampton was lined up to enter the villa but pulled out.
The 25-year-old passed up the opportunity after watching the series – saying “no one was my type”.
She was approached again this year to be in the original line-up and will make her debut on Monday.
“I was in a Whatsapp group that was to keep me updated on the show.
“I’d tell them who I fancied and would my top three be.
“It just got to the point where I felt like I wouldn’t really have fitted in or that I would really get on with that person.
“They always kept me in the loop and then it just all happened really quickly and I didn’t really think about it, I was still living my normal life.
“So then obviously it came around again this year, and they said, ‘Meg, would you go for it again?’

LEGENDARY TV love-match show Blind Date is returning to screens after 22 years.
There had been rumours the programme — famously hosted on ITV by the late Cilla Black — was to be revived on the BBC.
However a surprise twist will see the reboot go instead to global streaming service, Disney+.
Producers want to keep the tradition of a top British female host, with a shortlist including Claudia Winkleman, Holly Willoughby and Davina McCall.
The famous sliding wall separating the contestants will also return.
But it is not known whether it will feature a replacement for Graham Skidmore – aka “our Graham” — who provided Cilla with a summary of contestants. He died in 2021 aged 90.
He has plenty of famous namesakes, including chat show host Graham Norton, ex-footballer Graeme Souness and actor Stephen Graham.
An insider said: “Although there’s likely to be some modern twists, the bosses very much want to keep the essence of the original.
“There’ll be key elements returning, including the famous sliding wall.
“Plus there will be a prize up for grabs of a wedding package, which echoes Cilla’s famous gag whenever couples had enjoyed a successful date, and she used to ask, ‘Do I need to buy an ‘at for the wedding?’”
The Sun last year revealed plans for a revival after another Saturday night ITV hit, Gladiators, had successfully moved to the BBC.
It is believed the deep pockets of Disney+ ensured it won out over the Beeb.
It is expected to film later this year — 40 years after Blind Date first aired — and drop in 2026.
The original ran from 1985 to 2003, pulling in up to 18 million viewers.
After Cilla’s death in 2015, aged 72, it was briefly revived two years later on Channel 5 with Paul O’Grady.
Disney+ were approached for comment.
THESE days, it’s more shocking to discover a celebrity ISN’T on fat jabs than one who is.
But despite unashamedly admitting to her love of a cosmetic trend, Olivia Attwood vows she’ll never jump on the Ozempic bandwagon.
The reason? She wants a BIGGER bum, not a shrinking one.
“I’m always here for the latest fad, but the jabs are actually the one thing that has never tempted me,” reveals Olivia.
“My whole goal is to actually grow an arse in the gym, so I feel like it would be counterproductive.
“I’m constantly chugging protein shakes and doing squats. I’m trying to get more curves, not have less.”
Fat jabs are just one of the cosmetic surgery trends that the Love Island legend delves into in the new series of her ITV2 show, Olivia Attwood’s The Price of Perfection.
And after investigating the surge in popularity of Ozempic and Mounjaro – or GLP-1 receptor agonists, as they are known in the medical community – Olivia also has serious concerns about their safety.
“I think we are still in our infancy of knowing how these drugs behave,” says the 34 year old.
“For some people, they can be very powerful and life-changing, but people are having massive health issues when they are being dished out by non-medics and they are being abused back to back over several years.”
Given her penchant for a bigger butt, Olivia admits she has considered a Brazilian butt lift [BBL] – a procedure which sees a surgeon suck fat from the belly, hips, lower back and thighs, then transfer it into the bum to create bigger hips and a smaller waist.
BBLs are the fastest growing cosmetic procedure in the UK, with its popularity soaring by 20 per cent year on year.
Frighteningly, however, it has also earned the terrifying reputation of being the deadliest procedure, with some figures estimating one in 3,000 BBLs can result in death.
Naturally, Olivia tackles the rising demand for a Kardashian-style booty in her new series, travelling to Turkey to be there in the operating theatre to watch one girl go under the knife in pursuit of her dream derriere.
“A BBL is definitely one of those things I have looked into having,” Olivia admits.
“But for me, the risk doesn’t outweigh the result.
“It’s really hard to find someone who has had it done once and is super happy.
“It’s the procedure that requires the most revision surgeries and most people go back, like, three times.
“Who has the time to lie on your front for eight weeks, three times a year while you are healing?
“For that reason, it doesn’t appeal to me.”
Olivia has confessed to undergoing a boob job followed by a reduction, chin liposuction and contouring, veneers, lip fillers and Botox.

But while her open nature is one of the reasons she has so many devotees – Olivia has more than 2.5 million followers on Instagram, while her So Wrong It’s Right podcast has had more than 7.4 million YouTube views – she confesses she hasn’t told her fans everything she’s had done.
“I have done things that I haven’t explicitly talked about,” she reveals.
“But of course, I’ve had some help and I’m not ageing backwards.”
In fact, Olivia estimates that, at some point, she’ll have splashed out six figures on transforming her appearance.
“I could easily hit the £100,000 mark if I get my teeth done again, or when I have to get my boobs redone,” she admits.
“The guidelines are that you have to get your boobs redone every 10 years, so I will have to get them changed at some point.
“But I want to wait until I have kids before I outlay that money again.”
There’s another surgery she’d happily consider once she’s had babies – a designer vagina.
“If I needed to do that, I would – 100 per cent,” Olivia says.
“We look at mummy makeovers in the new series and the thing I realised is, you never know how your body is going to react to pregnancy.
“Some women see very little changes to their body, while others suffer incontinence and all sorts of health issues.
“So if I felt like something made me unhappy or I had issues, then yeah, of course.”
While she hasn’t planned when she and her footballer husband of two years, Bradley Dack, 31, will start a family, she admits they have fun practising in the bedroom – when they are actually under the same roof, that is.
“There are times when we struggle for time together, because he was in Sunderland for a whole year and often I’m away filming. So we can’t do designated sex nights,” she laughs.
“For us, sex is more of an ‘as and when’ thing.
“But one of the positive things about spending time apart is that, when you are back together, it feels a lot more exciting.
“I think missing someone is a nice feeling and I still get butterflies when I see him at the airport.
“One way we really keep the spark alive is by texting.
“I always tell people: ‘Remember to flirt with your partner.’
“So when I’m texting him, I flirt with him, rather than just asking him if he has walked the dog.”
Love Island gave me my big break and changed my life, so I’ll always feel very nostalgic about it.
Recently, Olivia came under fire after she commented on her Love Island ex, Chris Hughes, and his new girlfriend, Celebrity Big Brother co-star JoJo Siwa.

“Basically, when they went official, I got tagged in like 200 TikToks saying they were dying to know what I thought,” she explains.

Olivia first started as a Monster grid girl at motorsport events in 2012 when she was 19-years-old, and did it right up until she went into Love Island in 2017.
After placing third in the reality show with then-boyfriend Chris Hughes, she starred in their own spin-off series, Chris & Olivia: Crackin’ On, in 2018.

“The truth is, [their relationship] is not something I think about,” she says.
“I’ve got a lot going on.”
That’s quite the understatement.
As well as the new series of The Price of Perfection, she recently wrapped filming the next run of Olivia Attwood’s Bad Boyfriends and is about to start shooting a fourth round of her other hit show, Getting Filthy Rich.
On top of that, she manages to squeeze in her podcast, a radio show with pal Pete Wicks and being a Loose Women panellist.
And despite the recent cuts to the ITV daytime favourite, Olivia confirms that her place on the panel is safe.
“I’m definitely staying on Loose,” she says. “I literally adore that show and the women on it.
“But there are a lot of people who will be impacted [by the changes] behind the camera.”
With a new series of Love Island kicking off this week, Olivia says she will always be grateful to the show that launched her career back in 2017.
“Love Island gave me my big break and changed my life, so I’ll always feel very nostalgic about it,” she insists.
And with rumours swirling that Maya Jama might trade in her keys to the villa after this upcoming series, might Olivia fancy slipping into her stilettos and hosting the nation’s favourite dating show?
“I think Maya’s fantastic for the show and I don’t think she’s going anywhere,” she says.
“But I’ll be completely honest – I’d definitely be open to it if Maya didn’t want to do it anymore. So, if the powers that be asked me to have that conversation, of course, I would be ALL ears.”
TENNIS revelation Lois Boisson is set for a life-changing payday amid her growing French Open success.
Boisson, 22, took the world of tennis by storm by making it to the competition’s semi-finals.
The World No361 defeated No6 Mirra Andreeva on Wednesday at Roland-Garros.
According to Front Office Sports, the French rising star is assured a semi-final payday of around $785,000 (£578,000), which is more than five times what she’s earned in her pro career.
That is a total of $148,009 (£109,000), ever since turning pro in 2021.
Boisson has already beaten two top-10 players with World No3 Jessica Pegula also falling in the fourth round before Andreeva.
Now the Dijon native is set to battle World No2 Coco Gauff in the final four.
Another upset in the semi-finals would assure her of at least $1.4million (£1m) in earnings.
if Boisson’s incredible streak continues she will face either World No1 Aryna Sabalenka or four-time French Open champion Iga Swiatek in the final.
A record $2.9m (£2.1m) prize awaits the eventual champion.

According to ESPN, the young star is the third lowest-ranked player to advance to a Grand Slam semi-final in the last 30 years.

LOVE Island bosses have overhauled the villa ready for the summer series – and shelved one longstanding feature of the show.
The Hideaway will look extremely different when loved-up Islanders head into the luxury breakout-pad this year thanks to the changes.
That’s because the wardrobe of sexy lingerie and cupboard of whips, chains, chocolate body paint and handcuffs have been axed.
Instead Islanders can nip inside for a civilised cocktail or cosy chat with one rule – they cannot be in an official couple to use the space, like last year.
The Hideaway has seen raunchy scenes as recently as summer 2024, when Joey Essex and Jessy Potts had the champagne bucket rocking with their nighttime action.
Executive producer Mike Spencer-Hayter said: “It’s about keeping the show fresh and exciting.
“I personally don’t want to see ‘ooh, let’s open a cupboard and get something out.’
“I think we’ve seen it time and time again. I think we’ve got to move on.
“I don’t want this show to feel static. This show has to feel fresh.
“I think as producers we need to keep ahead of the curve because we are the number one dating show in the world. The stats speak for themselves but we can’t rely on that.
“We’ve got a push forward.
“We are going to give it all we’ve got to make the most exciting season of Love Island.”
Elsewhere there’s been another huge loss – the iconic garden beanbags.
Instead of the “cursed” yellow sacks, a series of chic, beige wooden seats are in place.
The pool has also had an upmarket overhaul with a Bali-style hammock added near the outdoor shower.
And another new aspect is a huge dining table has been added to the kitchen because for the first time, conversations as Islanders eat their lunch and dinner could be screened.
Mike said: “We just thought, why not, let’s just keep those chats.
“It will still probably feel a bit off camera, but it feels like in this day and age, show it.
“Sometimes, it feels like, why isn’t it on camera? There’s always lots of whispering and obviously sometimes it will affect show action, like how do they know that?
“The viewer hasn’t seen that, now they will see it.”
There’s also some impressive new changes made to make this villa the most sustainable ever.
The entire site now runs on solar power.
And there’s also a watt bike in place so the Islanders can pedal to charge up their Google Pixel mobile phones.
The changes come after Mike laid down the gauntlet to the whole production team to ensure the series was the best yet to mark the tenth anniversary.
Mike said: “When we sat down at the start of the year we were having a discussion about how to do Love Island this year. And with every single aspect of this show, let’s look at it, let’s see how we can improve it and let’s see how we can make it more exciting for the viewers.
“Because it’s a big commitment – 57 shows through the summer.
“You need people to tune in every night, get invested and follow the love stories.
“So I think we did set the challenge to every department – how do we make this better?”
Mike reckons they’ve got a fun cast this year too – with a huge number ready to roll through the doors.
He added: “I think we’ll be putting more bombshells in than before – we did 54 one year.
“I feel like it reminds me of Love Island in the early days. Personality is key.
“I think we’re going to see real love.
“They’re a good group and a good mix, but great bombshells as well.”
Love Island begins on Monday at 9pm on ITVX.
