Last week, a star musician found himself involved in a grim investigation as authorities found a decomposing body in the front trunk of a Tesla belonging to 20-year-old singer D4vd.
While there are still many unanswered questions regarding the incident, it sounds like authorities have finally been able to identify the body of the individual.
What We Know
- A body was found inside a Tesla belonging to musician D4vd at an impound lot in Hollywood.
- The car was brought to the impound lot after “someone reported it abandoned” in Hollywood Hills, and police were called after workers “reported a strong odor” coming from the Tesla, according to NBC Los Angeles.
- The badly decomposed body was discovered inside a bag in the Tesla’s front trunk. The remains were not intact and had badly decomposed.
- Detectives believe that the body is female. However, the remains were so decomposed that authorities have said it will take some time to properly identify the body.
- ABC News reports that the Tesla “is one of several vehicles owned by the musician,” and that many people have access to his vehicles.
- Despite the grim discovery, D4vd is continuing his world tour but will fully cooperate with the investigation.
Authorities Identify the Body
Given the advanced decomposition of the body, authorities had a difficult time identifying the body. However, a little over a week after the initial discovery, it sounds like investigators have been able to determine the individual’s identity.
On Tuesday, a representative for the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner told TMZ that the deceased individual had been identified, but since the legal next of kin notification was still pending, the office was unable to release the name of the individual.
Previously, authorities shared some details about the deceased individual, revealing that the body belonged to a female with wavy black hair, was about 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighed about 71 pounds, and was found wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal bracelet, and metal stud earrings.
The individual also had a tattoo on her right index finger that said “Shhh…” and appeared to have been dead for some time.
Who is D4vd?
The 20-year-old singer is originally from Queens, New York, but eventually moved with his family to Houston, Texas. He began his online music career by making montage videos of the video game Fortnite, writing and creating his own music for his videos in order to avoid copyright strikes in his content. Eventually, he became a full-time musician.
In 2022, D4vd released the singles “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” which quickly became viral hits on TikTok. In 2023, he released his debut EP titled “Petal to Thorns” and then followed that with five singles in 2024, including “Feel It,” which earned him a spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
Despite the discovery in his vehicle, D4vd has continued his world tour while cooperating with authorities. It’s worth noting that the artist has not been named as a suspect or a person of interest in the investigation.
