Avril Lavigne is making your wine choices a little less complicated with the launch of her own bottling. The 2000s music icon who blended punk grit with pop hooks has unveiled officially Complicated, a limited-edition Pinot Noir created in collaboration with California’s Banshee Wines, part of Foley Family Wines & Spirits.
The release draws its name from her breakout single “Complicated,” a track that went triple-platinum and helped cement her as a global voice for a generation of outsiders. Much like the song, the wine is designed to balance confidence with nuance: a light, velvety Pinot Noir layered with bright cherry and raspberry, retailing at $30. Fans can find it exclusively on the Banshee Wines website or, while supplies last, at the Banshee tasting room.
Music Meets Winemaking
The collaboration is rooted in an unusual but organic crossover. During her recent Greatest Hits Tour, Lavigne says the Banshee bar became a nightly ritual backstage. The partnership evolved from there, translating the energy of those after-show gatherings into a bottle.
“Over the last two years on my Greatest Hits Tour, I was rocking out with the Banshee bar set up backstage every night, ready for the afterparty, so teaming up on our own wine just felt right,” said Lavigne. “I hope that everyone can crack open a bottle with their best friends, blast the music that started it all for me, and enjoy the moment. Life can be complicated, but a good glass of wine doesn’t have to be.
The wine’s launch is paired with a playful cultural artifact: 50 limited “Sip and Spin” kits, bundling the bottle with a record player and Lavigne’s 2002 Let Go album on vinyl. It’s an invitation to drink and listen, bridging senses in a way few celebrity releases attempt.
Purpose Beyond the Pour
“The Complicated collaboration fuses Avril’s unmistakable artistry and rock ‘n’ roll spirit with our winemaking craft, giving fans a new way to connect with her music,” says Jason Daniel, Chief Marketing Officer at Foley Family Wines & Spirits.
The partnership also carries a philanthropic element. In honor of Lavigne’s trailblazing role in the industry, Banshee is donating $10,000 to She Is The Music, supporting songwriting camps that create opportunities for women in music.
A Toast to Connection
With its blend of pop nostalgia, premium winemaking, and social purpose, Complicated Pinot Noir feels less like a gimmick and more like an extension of Lavigne’s enduring ability to create connection. Fans can purchase the wine now through the wine brand’s official website.
