AWS server outage negatively affects smart luxury beds technology

The company also provides a subscription that makes the bed change its position and temperature to maintain the best sleep experience for users and reach the ideal result, whether by changing the angle of the bed or even its temperature based on the data it collects about the user.

Due to the failure of the AWS servers, the smart services provided by Eat Sleep were severely disrupted, and a number of user complaints appeared on various social media platforms.

One user on Reddit reported that his bed changed its temperature to 43 degrees Celsius, and another said that the bed became so steep that he fell out of it, in addition to reports of beds emitting flashing lights and loud beeps.

For his part, the platform’s CEO, Matteo Franceschetti, apologized through his account on the “X” platform for what happened, and confirmed that the company is working to restore its services and secure them against sudden outages.

The company provided an alternative solution to relying on cloud services in order to coordinate between the application and the mattress, as the application now relies on direct communication with the mattress via Bluetooth instead of relying on the company’s servers.
