Hollywood celebrities, fans, and even former President Barack Obama are up in arms over the shocking news of Jimmy Kimmel! being suspended indefinitely due to the host’s comments about Charlie Kirk after his death. While many have publicly commented on the news, actor Ben Stiller had very few words to say.
“This isn’t right,” said Stiller on X.
The Severance creator responded to a post by The Wall Street Journal reporter Joe Flint, who posted, “BREAKNG: Disney’s ABC is pulling Jimmy Kimmel indefinitely after late night host’s recent remarks about Charlie Kirk. Move comes as ABC affiliate groups told network they would be dropping the host.”
The news dropped shortly after Kimmel’s Monday night monologue, which didn’t sit well with Nexstar Media, one of the biggest owners of TV stations in the U.S. They announced they intend to preempt airings of the late-night show due to Kimmel’s remarks.

A statement from Nexstar read that they “strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.”
In Kimmel’s monologue, he commented on the “MAGA gang” using Kirk’s death, who died on September 10 at Utah Valley University, to score political points. He also poked fun at Trump’s response to a press question about his death and switching gears to talk about the White House’s new ballroom contruction.
While Stiller had few words to say, Kathy Griffin commented, “Please, take it from me, it is very important to have Jimmy Kimmel’s back right now. Be vocal. Be an ideological consumer. Money is all their crown cares about.”
Wanda Sykes also shared on Instagram, “Let’s see. [Trump] didn’t end the Ukraine war or solve Gaza within his first week. But he did end freedom of speech within his first year. Hey, for those of you who pray, now’s the time to do it. Love you, Jimmy.”
