Kaizer Chiefs could be without at least six players ahead of their anticipated clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Amakhosi have enjoyed a good start to the season, winning their opening three Betway Premiership matches. In the three matches, the Soweto giants were coached by assistant coach Khalil Ben Youseff in the absence of Nasreddine Nabi.
The Tunisian mentor left camp for nearly three weeks to attend to his injured wife. He has since returned to the country and is expected to be on the bench against Sundowns on Wednesday night.
Which players could miss Kaizer Chiefs’ next match
Amakhosi‘s second assistant coach Cedric Kaze said young defender Aden McCarthy could miss the match.
“About Aden, he hasn’t been training since that day. The medical staff are working hard to put him back on the field but we will have to wait and see how he does tomorrow to decide whether he will be part of the game or not,” he said as per iDiski Times.
“We have [Nkhanyiso] Shinga and [Bradley] Cross who have been sick the last few days. [Etiosa] Ighodaro was also injured at training two days ago.
Kaizer Chiefs are unbeaten in the league so far
“But apart from that everyone is well and ready for the game.”
Kaze said the defensive duo of Given Msimango and Rushwin Dortley would remain sidelined until next month.
“Those are injuries that have been for a long time,” the Kaizer Chiefs assistant added.
“Msimango is doing better, but it’s not players that we believe will be with us at least this month, probably Msimango next month and Dortley also later next month.”
