A 15-year-old boy has admitted to hurling a seat from the top floor of Stratford Westfield.
He was arrested after viral footage showed the large seat worth £500 and weighing around 15kg being thrown from the third floor on March 1.
It landed just inches away from a man who as in the shopping centre at the time.
Someone can be heard saying: ‘There’s no way this guy’s doing this, oh my God.’
The boy, who cannot legally be named, pleaded admitted criminal damage with recklessness at Stratford Youth court.
At the time of his arrest he told police ‘it’s not that deep’ and was just part of an internet prank.


He was arrested alongside another boy, also 15, who filmed the incident.
The second boy denies both charges and will appear in front of a judge in September.
Matthew Groves, prosecuting, said one of the boys picked up the large chair and threw it 50 ft below while being filmed by the other.
He said: ‘The incident was filmed by agreement by (the other boy) with a view to being posted on the internet.’
The footage was widely viewed online, with viewers urging the police find the boys.

The boys were arrested and when interviewed made admissions to their involvement, Mr Groves said.
