
A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of the rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl.
The teenage girl collapsed at a semi-detached home in Sheepridge Road, Huddersfield on Monday, 11 August.
The ambulance service alerted police at 11.36pm after reports that the teenager was found unresponsive.
She was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The circumstances surrounding the girl’s death remain unexplained, and police are conducting a post-mortem.

Video from the scene shows a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance by paramedics.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: ‘The girl’s death is currently being treated as unexplained, and enquiries are underway to determine the circumstances.’

A 16-year-old boy from Huddersfield has been arrested on suspicion of murder and rape in connection with the case.
He remains in custody as investigations continue.

The force spokesman added: ‘He has also been arrested on suspicion of another offence of rape relating to a 16-year-old girl from an unrelated incident elsewhere in Kirklees.’
