The Boy Meets World’s William Daniels gave fans a frightful scare when they believed an Instagram post from Thursday, August 21, meant he had died. The 98-year-old actor posted a throwback photo of a signed headshot from his time on the show to help boost sales.
The post initially led some fans to think the worst before reading what Daniels wrote in the caption.
“Something about this time of year always takes me back to one of my favorite roles as Mr. Feeny,” wrote Daniels, talking about his character from the iconic ’90s show. “Let’s celebrate this back-to-school season with 10% off all signed Feeny photos from our shop, now through September 15th! Link to store in bio.”
A simple throwback photo had fans commenting on the post how relieved they were to realize that the actor was simply trying to bring some attention to his site.
“I hate the fact that every time I see these posts my heart drops,” said one fan.
Another commented, “No, you can’t be posting things like this. Damn near gave me a heart attack.”
“Dang we all really thought the same thing here didn’t we,” added one fan.
Daniels became a fan favorite playing the role of George Feeny, the teacher/principal of the series, since its inception in 1993. He appeared in 148 episodes until the series finale in 2000. In 2014, Daniels reprised his role in the sequel series Girl Meets World, appearing in five episodes.
The sequel series was Daniels’ last TV role before he voiced the character KITT in the 2020 action comedy movie Superintelligence.
In his shop, where fans can buy an autographed copy of his Boy Meets World headshot, Daniels also sells a signed copy of the original pilot script from 1995. Fans can also buy his signed memoir.
