‘Breaking Bad’ Star ‘Taken to Jail’ Over Parking Dispute

One of the stars of the hit series Breaking Bad is facing his own little bit of legal trouble–and it’s a bizarre situation.

Raymond Cruz, who played drug dealer and villain Tuco Salamanca in the first two seasons of the show, was arrested in Los Angeles Monday after a dispute with a neighbor. TMZ first broke the news.

Cruz’s agent Raphael Berko confirmed to PEOPLE that his client was taken in following an incident while washing his car in front of his home.

The veteran performer was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery but was later released on his own recognizance.

As of now, misdemeanor charges have not been filed against Cruz, who is due back in court Oct. 1.

What happened

TMZ reported that someone called LAPD and alleged that Cruz assaulted their daughter by “blasting her with a garden hose.”

Berko claims the dispute started when a minivan with three women inside parked close to the bumper of Cruz’s car as he was washing it. The former star of The Closer and Major Crimes asked the women to move, but they refused.

“They said no,” Berko told PEOPLE. “He goes, ‘come on, move your car. You’re not giving me room, and it’s going to get wet.’ So, he said, ‘okay.’ He started to clean his car and then they started filming him.”

When Cruz turned around to ask the women to stop filming him, he was still hosing down his car, Berko continued. At that point, “some of the water from his hose hit the front of his car and spilled on their car.”

“And then believe it or not, one of them called the police,” Berko added.

Despite the ordeal, Berko said his client was “very grateful to all of the LAPD personnel at the police department.”

Cruz boasts an extensive acting career

A native of East LA, Cruz made his acting debut in the 1987 movie Maid to Order. Since then, he has appeared in more than three dozen films, including Training Day, The Rock, Blood In Blood Out and Clear and Present Danger.

In addition to his TV work on Breaking Bad, The Closer and Major Crimes, Cruz has been featured in Murder She Wrote, Walker, Texas Ranger, NYPD Blue, Matlock, The Practice, CSI: Miami, 24 and more.
