Kaizer Chiefs are looking to waste no time in their pursuit of a better season in the 2025/26 campaign.
Chiefs have been linked with several transfers, and now seem to be acting on some of the names linked.
Chiefs preparing for busy season ahead
Last season Chiefs saw themselves finishing outside the top eight for the second time in a row. But in contrast, Amakhosi were also finally able to break their 10-year trophy draught by winning the Nedbank Cup. That has seen them qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup. That will produce a punishing schedule which will see them travel on the continent, while balancing local games.
For this reason, Chiefs will have to be clever and effective when dealing with the transfer market. Last week, they were linked to two ex-Pirates players in Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane. On Friday it was reported that Monyane had been offered to Amakhosi, this before parting ways with the Buccaneers. His departure aș a free agent was then confirmed by the club just a couple of hours after that report.
Former Pirates duo close to joining
That then further fuelled reports that Monyane was indeed possibly set to complete a deal to Chiefs. A day later, Mako who was also released by Pirates at the same time, was thought to already be in advanced talks with Amakhosi. Now according to Soccerzone, Monyane’s situation has since escalated too and he is also in advanced talks with the Glamour Boys.
Both Mako and Monyane were long-serving members of the Pirates team over the years. Mako joined in 2018 from Chippa United, while Monyane was promoted from their academy in 2019. It came as a shock to many that they will be released. It was an even bigger surprise that they were linked to arch rivals Chiefs. But after the latest reports, it seems as if it’s only a matter of time until the duo is announced at Naturena.
