Fox 10 Phoenix reports that Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is being investigated by homicide detectives because police found “concerning circumstances” inside the home. Nanos also said, “Right now, we don’t see this as a search mission as much as we do a crime scene.” A department statement included a brief description of why investigators believe a crime has taken place.
“Sheriff Nanos has stated that he believes a crime has been committed. At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night. Taken against her will includes possible kidnapping or abduction.”
The outlet also quoted the Arizona Department of Public Safety, which described what the family of Nancy Guthrie found in her home when they realized she was missing. “Family went to her residence in Tucson, AZ, and Nancy was not in the home. All her personal belongings, to include her wallet, cell phone, and vehicle were still there, but she was nowhere to be found.”
