Within the framework of World Day to Fight Breast Cancerthe capital’s president highlighted the role of prevention, for the early detection of the condition, by setting a goal of one million mammography exams in 2026.
“Let us call for a great campaign of self-exploration, which will help us, for example, to break the record Guinness. And record Guinness of breast self-examination and that we convene the largest breast self-examination class in the world,” he promoted.
In her message, she pointed out that, historically, the female sector has dedicated itself to care tasks, a job that is neither visible nor paid, leaving aside its own care and the role of prevention.
“Most of the time that women spend is taking care of others. If we have to take care of the children or the elderly, we are there, but if it is about taking care of ourselves, we don’t pay attention to it. We go to the doctor or the health center when we simply can’t stand the pain. That’s how it happens,” she lamented.
Additionally, in her speech, the local leader recognized the great task of combating the main health diseases in the capital: diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular problems.
“They are those big health problems that we have in families in the Mexico City”, he noted when highlighting the health promotion team strategy.
Finallyin her speech, the secretary of Health local, Nadine Gasmandetailed that in MexicoEvery year, around 8,000 deaths from breast cancer are recorded, which to a large extent could have been prevented with a timely mammogram.
