With around 650 square meters of sales space and additional storage capacity in the basement, the branch has been in operation since mid-September. HIH Invest has taken a significant step towards revitalizing the city center in Coburg by renting a retail space to the renowned chain store Butlers. The new branch is located at Spitalgasse 12-14 and comprises around 650 square meters of sales space, spread over the ground floor and first floor. There is also around 250 square meters of storage space available in the basement. The branch has been open to customers since mid-September and enriches the city’s shopping offerings.
The ensemble of buildings, which includes Spitalgasse 12-14, is a central part of Coburg’s city center. It consists of a new building from the 1970s and a historical part from around 1900. In 2010/2011 the property was extensively modernized to meet today’s requirements. The property is part of a special fund managed by HIH Invest, which specializes in the development and management of high-quality retail space.
Butlers, known for its wide range of home accessories, decorative items and gift ideas, sees Coburg as a strategically important location for expanding its branch network in southern Germany. Bernd Salzman, DACH expansion manager at Butlers, emphasizes the importance of this new branch as a further building block in its network of over 100 locations. The choice of Spitalgasse 12-14 as the location underlines the attractiveness of Coburg city center and the good cooperation with HIH Real Estate.
The opening of the Butlers branch is a further step towards strengthening the pedestrian zone in Coburg, which already benefits from the presence of TK Maxx as an anchor tenant. With a 2,400 square meter branch, TK Maxx has made a significant contribution to the attractiveness of the shopping mile in 2023. Milan-Kristoffer Otte, Head of Asset Management Retail & Logistics at HIH Real Estate, sees the establishment of Butlers as an important boost for the frequency and attractiveness of the city center.
