Cain shaken to the core by returning Emmerdale character who makes devastating claim

It was Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) memorial in this evening’s episode of Emmerdale.

The Dingles organised this event due to the fact Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) banned them all from the funeral tomorrow. A few hours prior to the memorial beginning, the likes of Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) were feeling apprehensive about how Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) would behave.

Moira and Charity are both aware that Cain is focusing on other members of his family – like Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) – as a distraction from the grief. When he arrived in the pub, Cain’s emotions were challenged when he noticed the place looked pretty empty.

Sam Dingle (James Hooton) was late and Nate’s friends weren’t able to get time off to attend the memorial and the funeral. When Sam entered, he had the Dingle drum in his hands.

The instrument, which is used as part of a Dingle tradition, served as a reminder to Cain that he cannot give Nate the send off he wants. He felt emotional by this point, but he started to feel better when Caleb Miligan (William Ash) reminded him that even though they can’t do most of the family traditions, they can still raise a glass to Nate.

After this, the atmosphere got lighter. Characters were sharing stories about Nate, and Sam was laughing about how they’d often skive off work together from the farm.

As Sam chuckled, he accidentally spilt his drink down Cain. Fortunately, it didn’t bother him – but the arrival of a familiar face moments later certainly did.

Cara (Carryl Thomas), Nate’s mum, entered the pub and wasn’t impressed to see Cain looking so jovial. She immediately accused him of being drunk, and noted that she could smell the alcohol on him.

Angry at Cain, Cara accused him of being just like Shadrach, his abusive and alcoholic father.

The claim hurt Cain a lot. Cara then took herself away from the pub to find Tracy, who wasted no time in reiterating her theory that Cain killed Nate.

The instalment of the ITV soap ended with Cain furiously confronting Tracy after learning that she’s entitled to Nate’s life insurance. He declared that the Dingles will be at the funeral tomorrow, whether she likes it or not.

How will it go?
