There might not be a more snakebit athlete in the world right now than Tommy Fleetwood, but Caitlin Clark has faith in the 34-year-old Englishman heading into the final round of the Tour Championship Sunday.
Fleetwood has infamously never won on the PGA Tour. A seven-time winner on the European Tour, he’s come tantalizingly close to winning all four majors but has never finished better than second.
Most recently, Fleetwood had a heartbreaking collapse down the stretch at the Travelers Championship in June and also fell apart in the final round at the FedEx St. Jude Championship earlier this month.
Fleetwood went into today tied with Patrick Cantlay atop the Tour Championship leaderboard at 16-under. After an early birdie, he now holds a two-shot advantage over Russell Henley.
Caitlin Clark is a Fleetwood believer
There’s a long way to go this afternoon, but Caitlin Clark made it clear she thinks Fleetwood will finally snap the curse.
Clark, an avid golfer when she’s not competing in the WNBA, is paying close attention to the Tour Championship and sent out a message on X/Twitter about Fleetwood before he teed things up.
“This has to be Fleetwood’s day,” Clark wrote.

Fleetwood keeps a brave face
Despite his reputation as a hard-luck loser, Fleetwood has tried to remain upbeat.
Following his most recent near-miss at the St. Jude Championship, Fleetwood said he aimed to “keep pushing forward and try and put myself in that position again.”
Well, here he is.
“I think I’m playing really good golf,” Fleetwood said before the Tour Championship. “Just because … things haven’t worked out for me before doesn’t mean they won’t work out this week.
“I think I’m doing a lot of things well and just happy that I’ve got off to a great start in another tournament and I’m there again.”
