The WNBA season may be over, but one of the best players in the world isn’t content to spend the offseason with only rest and relaxation. Caitlin Clark’s 2025 season was cut short by injury, but the former No. 1 overall pick and Rookie of the Year is ready to compete once again.
Clark will be taking part in a competitive sporting event next month, but it won’t have anything to do with the sport of basketball. The NCAA’s all-time leading scorer will look to prove her skills in a different sport, as she will take her talents to the golf course.
Clark is set to play in The Annika on the LPGA Tour for the second time, following her debut at the event last year.
Caitlin Clark’s Golf Experience
“I had an amazing time at The Annika last November and participating in the pro-am alongside Nelly Korda and Annika Sorenstam, two of the best in the game,” Clark said in a statement announcing her participation.
“I can’t wait to return to Tampa in November to play in the Pro-Am with the best women golfers in the world.”
The Annika Pro-Am takes place before the penultimate event of the LPGA season, which includes one of the largest prize purses on the women’s tour at $3.25 million. Some of the top golfers in the world are expected to compete in both events, including Korda, Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson, Lilia Vu and Brooke Henderson.
The event is named after legendary women’s golfer Annika Sorenstam, who won nearly 100 professional tournaments during her career. Sorenstam won 10 majors in her career and completed the career grand slam in 2003. That same year, she also made history as the first woman to compete in a PGA Tour event since the 1940s.
“It was an honor to play in the pro-am with Caitlin last year. The crowds were amazing, and we are excited for her return to The ANNIKA in November,” Sorenstam said.
“She added such a great dynamic to our event, and her passion for golf and competitiveness were fun to witness firsthand.”
Clark Brings New Eyes to the Golf Event
The Golf Channel covered the 2024 Annika Pro-Am, and they’re set to expand that coverage this year with Clark making her return. The basketball star has proven to be a ratings draw in her primary sport of choice, and the Golf Channel is banking on her star power for this upcoming event.
Last year, the network streamed Clark’s warmup sessions and followed her as she gave her thoughts throughout her round.
Clark was limited to just 13 games in her second WNBA season, as she was hampered by injuries all year long. The Fever ended her season permanently in early September, as the team geared up for a run to the playoffs. It’s the first time in her career that she’s dealt with a major injury after not missing a game in college or her rookie WNBA season.
After a tough year on the hardwood, we’ll see what Clark can do on the golf course. Fans can tune into the Annika Pro-Am on November 12.
