Activision has showcased what to expect from this year’s Call Of Duty, including a new PvE mode and expanded progression.
After a mountain of leaks, Activision has officially pulled back the curtain on Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7.
During Gamescom Opening Night Live, the upcoming shooter received its first gameplay trailer which confirmed a number of details, including the title’s release date.
As outed by leaks beforehand, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches worldwide on November 14, 2025 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Notably, despite promises from Microsoft to bring the franchise to Nintendo’s console as part of a 10-year deal, there was no mention of a Switch 2 version.
If you want to try it out before this date, Activision is holding an open beta for all players on October 5, 2025. You can get three days early access to the beta starting on October 2 if you pre-order Black Ops 7 too. The game will remain at the usual price of £69.99 in the UK.
Like Black Ops 3, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 features a co-op campaign for up to four players. The story itself is set in 2035, 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6, as David Mason leads an elite team on a covert mission to the Mediterranean city of Avalon.
Based on the trailer, it looks like it’s leaning harder on the psychological elements, with roads suspended in the air, horror-esque sequences, and even a giant Godzilla-like character.

Weirdly, after it leaked last week, Activision spoiled what you unlock when you complete the campaign. After you complete all the missions, you’ll unlock the ‘Endgame’, which is a 1-32 player PvE experience set on the Avalon map.
In this mode, you’ll complete missions to level up your character and gain abilities, but if you die, you’ll lose all your progress and have to start over.
At launch on the multiplayer side, Black Ops 7 will have sixteen 6v6 maps (including three from Black Ops 2) and two 20v20 Skirmish maps, with environments spanning futuristic Tokyo to the frozen landscape of Alaska.
The omnimovement system from the last entry will also be back, albeit in an ‘evolved’ fashion according to Activision.
While not the main focus of the trailer, Zombies will also be back, along with the next edition of Dead Ops Arcade – a top-down twin stick shooter which was last seen in Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
For the first time in the series, player progression will be spread across every mode in Black Ops 7. So when you’re playing the campaign, you’ll earn XP and weapon upgrades in the multiplayer, Zombies, and Call Of Duty: Warzone.
More is set to be announced about this year’s Zombies and multiplayer modes at Call Of Duty Next, which will take place on September 30, 2025.
