The new French thriller Promethea on Channel 4 could be the perfect way for you to spend this weekend.
Starring French actor Fantine Harduin, who’s 17 as she helms the six-parter, this supernatural thrillersees her titular teen grapple with sudden memory loss.
The drama starts as married couple Caroline (Marie-Josée Croze) and Charles Lasset (Thomas Jouannet), a teacher and doctor, hit something that dashes out from the woods at night while they’re driving home.
The something is a naked Promethea, who is hit by the car and eventually wakes from a coma knowing nothing but her (unusual) name, which is Prométhée in French.
Nobody steps forward for Promethea and no family has reported her missing – the only clue to her identity, besides her name, is a jellyfish tattoo on her wrist.
After the doctors have given her a look, Promethea is taken in by the family who hit her and examined by Charles’s psychoanalyst colleague Marie (Odile Vuillemin).

Gradually, her memory starts to return and with it, she begins to recall a series of disturbing scenes related to a recent still-unsolved murder.
At first, it seems that Promethea might have witnessed this killing – but then the show begins to hint her involvement in things might have been more sinister. Plus, there’s a dash of the supernatural that starts to be woven in, so something for fantasy and murder mystery fans alike!
The official synopsis reads: ‘With each episode, secrets unravel. A hidden key. A missing body.
‘A growing sense that Promethea is more than just a girl with amnesia, that she’s part of something much larger, and possibly deadly.
‘As she begins to uncover extraordinary physical abilities, Promethea realises she may not want to know who she really is. But someone out there does. And they’re watching.’
