One of Europe’s cheapest holiday destinations to enter the Eurozone next year – here’s what it means for your vacation
A NEW country is set to join the eurozone next year – and it might not be good new for Brits.
The European Commission has given Bulgaria the green light to join the eurozone next year.

Bulgaria joined the European Union back in 2007 and it will become the 21st country to adopt the euro on January 1, 2026.
This means Brits will eventually have to use up any of their old currency, which is the Bulgarian lev.
However, once the euro is in place in Bulgaria – it will be easier for Brits to use up leftover change from a previous trips to other euro-accepting countries.
According to Eamonn Turley, a financial specialist at Multi Quote Time: “Currently, Brits travelling to Bulgaria are required to exchange their pounds sterling for Bulgarian levs, which typically involves fees and exchange rates that can add uncertainty and cost to their holiday plans.
“Once Bulgaria adopts the euro, British travellers will have the convenience of spending the same currency that they would if they were travelling to most other popular European destinations like Spain, France, or Italy.
“The majority of Britons spend debit or credit cards when abroad, and with the euro, there is less foreign transaction fees or dynamic currency conversion fees, which can be hidden and bring added cost.”
Currently for each pound Brits can get 2.32 levs, but each pound will give Brits €1.19 – meaning that Brits get more levs for their money than euros.
Eamonn also explained how Bulgaria has traditionally had a lower living standard that other Western European countries.
This means that tourists have often flocked there for the country’s cheap holidays.
“When other Eastern European countries like Estonia and Lithuania joined the Eurozone, there was a bit of price inflation that came with the stronger currency and greater economic integration,” added Eamonn.
“Britons may find that while currency exchange hassles disappear, the prices of meals, hotels, and services may gradually rise.”
However, there are also positives to the news as he says that stronger economic stability can lead to “improved transport links, more quality hotels, and improved tourist facilities, making Bulgaria an even more competitive holiday destination”.
He finished by saying: “From my financial perspective, this integration within the eurozone will render Bulgaria a more desirable destination for British tourists wanting convenience and safety with their spending, with perhaps the medium to long-term gain of enhanced tourism service and infrastructure.”
However, many Bulgarians remain skeptical and fear a rise in prices during the switch – which has happened in other countries that joined over the past decade.
Croatia adopted the euro on January 1, 2023, becoming the 20th member state of the eurozone.
The country was considered relatively cheap but has become more expensive over the past two decades.

According to a European Central Bank blog: “the impact of the euro changeover on consumer prices in Croatia has so far been relatively small”.
It added: “Continued monitoring is essential.
“Croatia’s experience is an important lesson for other EU Member States adopting the euro, as it confirms that the economic costs arising from the effect of the changeover on inflation are limited and of a one-off nature.”
The same could be seen with Bulgaria’s transition.
There are also several reasons why Brits should swap Spanish holidays for five destinations in stunning European country – with cheap pints & flights.
Plus, inside bargain holiday hotspot with cheap booze and wild sex games that’s Europe’s new party central for Brits.

‘It took years off my life’ – Fabio Wardley lived off ice cream and noodles after brutal Frazer Clarke fight
FABIO WARDLEY resorted to a diet of ice cream and noodles after his brutal fight against Frazer Clarke.
The pair put on a thriller over 12 rounds in March of last year – which ended in a draw.

Wardley was left covered in blood due to his busted nose and a jaw injury left him barely able to chew in the days after.
He told The Times: “It’s a fate that you have to accept if you do this sport properly.
“I probably should’ve gone to the hospital afterwards. I remember being sat in my hotel room and I couldn’t sleep because my head was pounding, like vibrating.
“When I lay down, I felt sick. If I sat up, I felt sick. My face looked like the Elephant Man. My nose was stitched up.
“I’d bitten my tongue about 100 times. I couldn’t chew for three days because of my jaw, so I just ate ice cream and noodles, but that’s part of it.
“Those fights are going to happen and you might get knocked out, but if you carry that around with you and hesitate because you’re scared of it, it could have a negative impact on how you fight and almost make it more likely to happen. You’ve got to just take it on the chin.”
Wardley scored a knockdown in round five and Clarke had a point off to even the judges scorecards.
But Wardley won the rematch six months later with a brutal first-round knockout that left Clarke hospitalised.

Now the Ipswich super-fan returns on Saturday at Portman Road against Australian Justis Huni.
Huni won the amateur World Youth Championships in 2016 – the same year Wardley had his first unlicensed white collar bout.
Wardley said: “Huni is another opponent from a completely different end of entry in boxing terms.
“After starting in white-collar, anything was a win. This wasn’t realistic, but you always imagine.”
Wardley had four fights on the unlicensed circuit – winning them all by KO – after foregoing an amateur career.
Now he is on the cusp of a world title shot as part of one of British boxing’s most unlikely success stories.
Wardley said: “I fought at the O2, then I headlined the O2, I’ve fought in Saudi Arabia as the chief support to Tyson Fury and to Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol.
“It keeps feeling like we’ve peaked and that it can’t get any better and now I’m fighting at the stadium in my hometown.
“I’m genuinely on the edge of a world title, which sounds crazy for me just to say.”

Teaching assistant sent naked pictures of herself to teen on Snapchat after calling him ‘good lad’ in X-rated messages
A PAEDO teaching assistant sent naked photos of herself to a teen boy on Snapchat after calling him a “good lad”.
Chelsey Knox also asked the schoolboy, who is aged under 16, to send pictures of his privates after she began messaging him.

The mum, 33, sent him a video of herself in the shower and shared two topless photos with him.
Knox then sent a picture of herself using a sex toy to the teen, Kent Online reports.
She is now facing prison after pleading guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child.
The teaching assistant also admitted two counts of causing a child to watch an image of sexual activity and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court heard she carried out the vile offences between March 24 and April 5 last year.
She first started messaging the boy in February that year but the texts were not “sexual”.
Rajni Prashar, prosecuting, said: “She then sent a message asking him to come to her house, and she sent a picture of a bottle of alcohol and said there was a party.
“She also sent a message saying he was a good lad and she had her legs on show, but she then sent a topless photo and a video of her in the shower and she asked him to send a picture of his penis.”
Knox was bailed on the condition she signs on to the sex offenders’ register.
The mum, from Kent, will be sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on a date to be set.
Knox previously found herself in court after she chased and attacked a woman she had followed in her car.
JPs heard the victim was left with cuts to her left ear and lip, as well as severe bruising to her face.
Knox was handed a suspended 24 week sentence after admitting actual bodily harm.

‘Back to the grind in a few days’ – Anthony Joshua shows off results of elbow surgery as boxing star closes in on return
ANTHONY JOSHUA has shown off the results of his elbow surgery as he plots his return to the ring.
AJ went under the knife two weeks ago in the middle of May to fix the arm injury that has kept him out of action.

And Joshua has given a small glimpse into his recovery as he shadowboxed on social media.
Posting to his Snapchat account, he posted: “2 weeks post operation. Back to the grind in a few days.”
Joshua, 35, was knocked out by Daniel Dubois, 27, at Wembley and looked to be targeting an immediate rematch.
But that failed to materialise with Dubois now rematching Oleksandr Usyk on July 19 in London – two years after losing to the Ukrainian.
Tyson Fury, 36, was last year beaten by Usyk, 36, twice and subsequently announced his retirement in January a month after losing the rematch.
But AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn is hoping the unpredictable Gypsy King will make a U-turn and return to fight Joshua.
Talks are ongoing with Saudi boxing boss Turki Alalshikh over a new two-fight deal.
And Hearn told BoxingScene in late May: “He’s had the operation, which went very well, and now he’s just sort of rehabbing it.

“I believe about six weeks till he can punch again properly, and that kind of lends itself to a September, October, November fight.
“That gives us a chance to see what happens with Dubois against Usyk.
“That gives us a chance to see if Mr. Fury will ever return, and maybe something else.
“But he’s definitely fighting this year and looking forward to it.”
