Dax Shepard has caused some controversy among fans of his Armchair Expert fans podcast after making ‘uncomfortable’ comments about Sabrina Carpenter. The 51-year-old podcaster dropped his latest episode with SNL star Marcello Hernández earlier this week, where the pair discussed his rise to fame, aspirations, and dug deep into his personal life. However, during one segment, Shepard — who is married to actor Kristen Bell — steered the conversation toward 26-year-old Carpenter, who over the last couple of years has become a global icon. Shepard said: ‘If I’m you again and I’m 28, I’m going to try to date her with all my might. Are you not trying your hardest to marry her?’ Clearly not on the same wavelength as Shepard, Hernández quickly shut the question down, responding: ‘I’m in a relationship with a Dominican girl. Hernández then added: ‘But Sabrina’s awesome.’ He also confessed that the pair were ‘pals’ after they spent time together on Saturday Night Live, filming the viral Domingo sketch. Following the Sabrina Carpenter discussion on the podcast, listeners took to social media with some calling out the host for being ‘creepy.’ One person said: ‘Do you know how WEIRD you have to be to say things like this to real people, especially ones half your age and already in public relationships??’ while another penned: ‘Dax Shepard is being a creepy uncle again.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
Shepard has been married to Kristen Bell since 2013. The pair began dating in late 2007 after they met through a mutual friend. In 2010, they got engaged, but postponed their nuptials until the state of California passed legislation legalising same-sex marriage. As for Hernández, he has been a cast member of the sketch show, SNL, since its 48th season in 2022. He is notably known as the show’s first Gen Z cast member.
