Chelsea star Djordje Petrovic ‘may push for a move’ this summer with Leeds United one of three Premier League clubs in the hunt to sign a new goalkeeper, according to reports.

The Blues are well stocked in the goalkeeping department with Petrovic behind Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen in the Chelsea pecking order.

Petrovic would also face competition from Mike Penders – who arrived at Chelsea from Genk this summer – if he remained at Stamford Bridge.

There is the possibility that Chelsea may sign a new goalkeeper this summer too after transfer talks for AC Milan’s Mike Maignan broke down.

Petrovic shined on loan for Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg in the 2024-25 campaign and was crowned their Player of the Year.

The 25-year-old Serbia international could now be heading for an exit with talkSPORT reporting that he could push for a move in the summer window.

Leeds will have to battle other clubs for Petrovic

The outlet adds that Leeds – who have been promoted back to the Premier League – are one of three top-flight clubs seeking a new goalkeeper this summer.

Leeds may face competition from AFC Bournemouth and West Ham for Petrovic, with the latter two clubs also in the market for a fresh goalkeeper.

Illan Meslier mainly operated as Leeds’ No.1 goalkeeper last term but he was dropped for their final seven games of the Championship season.

The Frenchman made a number of errors with Karl Darlow, 34, replacing him in the XI for the latter stages of the Championship promotion race.

Petrovic not in Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad

Petrovic was brutally left out of Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad this summer.

The goalkeeper, nicknamed ‘Petro Boomin’, has also been linked to Ligue 1 side Monaco in the summer transfer window.

Petrovic joined Chelsea in August 2023, signing a seven-year deal with the west London club with the option to extend his contract for a further year.

Chelsea recruited him from New England Revolution, paying the Major League Soccer (MLS) side an initial £12.5m plus £1.5m in add-ons.

Petrovic was named an MLS All-Star in 2023 with New England Revolution before his move to Chelsea.

On loan at Strasbourg last season, Petrovic was nominated for the Ligue 1 Best Goalkeeper award, eventually missing out to Lille’s Lucas Chevalier.

Petrovic has been capped seven times by Serbia to date, making his debut against Switzerland in the 2024-25 Nations League.

He saved a penalty for Serbia against Albania in a World Cup qualifying match on Saturday, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
