Chile has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records after performing the largest clothing exchange in the worldan event that combined sustainability, environmental awareness and citizen participation.
The initiative, carried out in La Moneda Cultural Centerfar exceeded expectations by bringing together thousands of people committed to responsible consumption and circular fashion.
A record with an environmental purpose
According to CNN Chile, the activity was organized by The Ropantic Show in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environmentand aimed to encourage the reuse of garments to reduce the environmental impact of the textile industry.

During the day, more than 2,000 valid exchangesenough to establish the new world record and leave behind previous marks in other countries.
According to 24 Horas, the certification was granted after a official verification process headed by representatives from Guinness World Records, who monitored each exchange to ensure it complied with established rules. Participants had to deliver a garment in good condition and receive another in exchange, guaranteeing a continuous flow of reuse without waste.
The Minister of the Environment, Maisa Rojashighlighted that this achievement “reflects the commitment of Chileans to a more circular economy and less dependent on the mass production of clothing.” The event also sought to make visible the problem of Atacama clothing dumpconsidered one of the most striking symbols of excessive textile consumption in Latin America.
More than a record: a global message
According to CNN Chile, The Ropantic Show and its allies plan to repeat the initiative in different regions of the country to continue promoting sustainable consumption habits. In addition, the event served as an educational platform, with talks and workshops on textile recycling, garment repair and responsible design.
The Guinness record not only establishes Chile as a world leader in sustainable fashion, but also sends a clear message about the urgency of changing the way clothing is produced and consumed.
