Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have split after nearly eight years of dating, it has been claimed.
The Coldplay frontman, 48, and the Fifty Shades of Grey actress, 35, were first linked in 2017, but have remained fiercely private of their relationship in that time.
Last year, they were faced with intense speculation that they had gone their separate ways, but swiftly squashed the rumors.
According to reports, the pair have now decided to call time on their seven-year, on-off romance for good.
Multiple insiders confirmed the split to People Magazine, with one source stating: ‘It feels final this time’.
Dakota and Chris – who shares two children with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow – have yet to address the claims publicly.
The couple sent fans into meltdown when they were spotted on a date night in LA nearly a decade ago, with the Madame Web star popping up in the crowd at a Coldplay concert the following month.
In 2020, they were met with speculation of an engagement after she was pictured wearing a huge sparkler on that finger, but they refused to confirm reports at the time.
Last year, Dakota gave a very rare insight into their private life in an interview, raving about how much she loves watching Chris perform on stage with his bandmates – having been spotted at numerous gigs in the past.
‘I don’t know. I love watching him. I could watch him every day,’ she told Bustle of the Yellow singer’s stage presence.
‘I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like, I don’t know… I’m watching my most favorite being do his most favorite thing.’
She also opened up about her bond with his children, Apple and Moses – who he welcomed during his marriage to Gwyneth, adding: ‘I love those kids like my life depends on it.
‘With all my heart.’
Despite staying under the radar, they have faced scrutiny regarding their romance over the last few years – including the bizarre moment a struggling fan claimed that Chris told her that he’s ‘single’ last spring.
The generous singer took a moment to give the woman in question a lift at Radio 1’s Big Weekend last May – and she later unpacked their ‘nice chat’ on Twitter, alleging that he claimed to be ‘single’.
Dakota quickly poured cold water on the reports when she was pictured taking in Coldplay’s headlining set at Glastonbury from the side of the stage just a few weeks later.
‘They’ve had ups and downs, but now they’re definitely back on,’ an insider told People Magazine at the time, adding that they were ‘going strong’.
