The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) registered 70 incidents between midnight and 7am todayrelated to bad weather, the mostly flooding, falling trees and cleaning of roads.
The majority of incidents recorded between 00:00 and 07:00 were floods, in a total of 43José Rodrigues, from ANEPC, told Lusa, adding that there were no victims or serious damages due to the rain.
In addition to flooding, most occurrences were due to fallen trees and the need to clean roadssaid ANEPC. The operations mobilized 244 operational, supported by 96 vehicles.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere published today eight districts on the continent – Viseu, Guarda, Santarém, Lisbon, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Aveiro and Coimbra – under orange warning due to persistent rain, sometimes heavy, accompanied by wind.
The forecasts are for rain, sometimes heavy and persistent, especially in the Central region, gradually decreasing in intensity and frequency from north to south, and wind with greater intensity in the western coastal strip and in the highlands.
