According to him transitional article 25 of the LIF 2026, all individuals and companies, residents in Mexico and abroad, that participate in the World Cupdirectly or indirectly, will not pay taxes on these activities from the end of this year.

“Twenty-fifth.- Individuals and legal entities residing in Mexico or abroad with permanent establishment in the country, as well as residents abroad, who participate in the organization and celebration of the competition of the International Federation of Association Football World Cup 2026their tests, matches and related events with said competition, they will not be subject to compliance with the formal, payment, transfer, withholding, collection and other obligations established by the tax provisions, which derive exclusively from the performance of the acts or activities or from obtaining income for their participation in the aforementioned competition, its tests, matches and events related to it, as of the last quarter of fiscal year 2025“, reads in the Federation Income Law.

Mexico, the only country where FIFA will not pay taxes
