This Tuesday, farmers continued with blockades on different roads in the country, affecting thousands of people who have been stranded for more than 24 hours, trapped inside their vehicles or public transport buses.
Claudia Sheinbaum’s statements occur after a series of mobilizations by corn producers and farmers in the country, who blocked roads in several states to demand the Government set the minimum price of corn at 7,200 pesos.
On Monday, Mexican authorities offered to set that price at 6,050 pesos.
However, farmers and producers rejected it and described it as a “mockery” and “insult to the Mexican countryside.”
The Mexican Government has reiterated that it seeks a balanced agreement that benefits both small producers and the price stability in the domestic marketin a context of tension in the field due to the fall in international corn prices and the effects of climate change in production.

Summoned by the Peasant Agricultural Movement (MAC) and the National Union of Agricultural Workers (UNTA), protesters paralyzed roads in Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Tamaulipas, Jalisco, Nayarit, Michoacán, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Querétaro, Sonora, Baja California, Durango, Tlaxcala, State of Mexico, Colima, Chiapas and Puebla on Monday.
