Palma Solís recommended dressing warmly during these days, especially for those who plan to attend nighttime activities or meetings for the Day of the Dead.
Likewise, he recommended taking precautions against changes in temperature, which can favor the predisposition of respiratory diseases, as well as taking advantage of these cool days, the first since March, when the last cold front arrived.
Given the low temperatures, these are some prevention measures recommended by the National Meteorological Service:
- Cover up and protect your face and head.
- Dress using the “onion method”, which consists of covering yourself with several pieces of clothing and not just wearing thick clothing, which allows you to condition yourself according to the place you are in.
- Drink hot drinks to maintain body temperature.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature, covering your nose and mouth.
- Do not use ovens, braziers and stoves to heat the house.
- Do not sleep near heaters, as they produce carbon monoxide and can cause poisoning and even death. If poisoning is suspected, ventilate the area and call the local health service.
- Ensure adequate ventilation if using a fireplace or heater.
- Caring for vulnerable groups such as children, people with chronic illnesses, pregnant women and older adults.
- Protect pets and animals, as they are also susceptible to the cold.
