The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) of Mexico reported this Saturday, October 25, that the electrical supply has been restored to 100% to affected users after the weather conditions that left catastrophic rains that hit the central-eastern part of the country two weeks ago.
“With uninterrupted work, the electrical personnel recovered the service in (the states of) Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz,” stated the CFE in a statement.
The agency noted that “100% was restored to users in the region” hit by the rains and floods recorded from October 6 to 10, as “instructed” by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
The CFE detailed that For these tasks, 1,602 electrical workers, 503 pick-up vehicles, 219 articulated cranes, six helicopters, eight drones, eight backhoes and four ATVs were deployed.
Likewise, the note specified that workers will remain at sites that require “definitive repairs to the electrical infrastructure.”
More than 182 thousand students return to face-to-face classes
The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) reported this Saturday that 182,610 students have returned to face-to-face classes, after the rains that caused damage to more than 2,400 educational establishments.
The head of the SEP, Mario Delgado Carrillo, indicated in a statement that so far 182,610 students from 2,442 schools, “from preschool to higher education in the affected states, already “They take classes in person, in safe, sanitized places suitable for them to return to their work.”
While 26,105 students from 229 basic, upper secondary and higher education schools “continue their classes online, thereby providing continuity to their learning without putting their integrity at risk,” the official added.
“We implemented a comprehensive plan to ensure that schools of the country have optimal conditions for returning to school, prioritizing safety, cleanliness and equipment of the schools,” said Delgado.
The official explained that said plan is financed with resources from Agroasemex’s institutional insurance, which amounts to 3.2 billion pesos.
The rains that hit the center of the country two weeks ago have so far left 80 people dead and 18 missing, according to the official microsite enabled by the Government of Mexico in response to the emergency.
Yesterday, Friday, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, Jesús Esteva, stated that Land communication has already been restored in 202 of the 288 communities that were cut off due to the rains and landslides in the five affected states.
