The Left abstained from the vote, while representatives of the Greens and the AfD rejected the plans.
The reform plans envisage stabilizing the pension level at 48 percent by 2031. This is intended to ensure that pensions keep pace with wages despite the increasing number of baby boomers retiring. However, there are also critical voices within the Union faction. The reform plans are part of a broader approach to strengthening pension provision in Germany.
