Gauteng will continue to experience cold nights and cool daytime conditions this week, with forecasters warning of light rainfall over parts of the province. Johannesburg and Pretoria are forecast to drop to overnight lows of 6°C and 8°C respectively, while daytime highs will remain modest at 18°C and 20°C.
According to Odirile Modipa, a forecaster, “We’re expecting quite cold conditions overnight for most parts of the country, with minimums averaging 8°C across the central interior.”
Cold and Isolated showers expected
Isolated showers and thundershowers will likely develop over Gauteng, especially in the western regions. These conditions form part of a broader weather system affecting the central interior, including the North West, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga. Light precipitation may temporarily relieve dry areas but will not accumulate significant rainfall.
Modipa added, “Isolated showers are expected to persist over parts of Gauteng as well as Limpopo. These will mainly occur during the evening and early morning.”
Cool Daytime Temperatures Ahead
Gauteng’s maximum temperatures are expected to remain relatively calm throughout Wednesday. Johannesburg is forecast to reach only 18°C, while Pretoria may see a high of 20°C. With thick cloud cover and a chilly breeze, residents must dress warmly and keep umbrellas on hand.
