Colin Farrell’s Brutally Honest ‘The Batman Part II’ Take Makes Waves

Colin Farrell isn’t holding back his opinion when it comes to The Batman Part II. The actor, whose performance as The Penguin left audiences stunned in the first film, opened up with his brutally honest thoughts about the highly anticipated sequel to The Batman. As the buzz continues to intensify around Robert Pattinson’s return and a script from Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin that’s received plenty of praise, Farrell’s comments were still incredibly noteworthy.

Farrell and A Big Bold Beautiful Journey co-star Margot Robbie sat down with Patrick Kielty of The Late Late Show and discussed a broad range of topics. While the duo’s upcoming movie took center stage, Farrell was asked about the 2027 film, The Batman Part II.

With Farrell expected to reprise his role as The Penguin in some capacity in the sequel to Pattison’s debut film as Batman, he joins the shortlist of names who have apparently read the highly anticipated script. During his conversation with Kielty, Farrell couldn’t help but rave about what Reeves and Tomlin put on paper.

“The script is…unbelievable,” Farrell said. “It’s so good. God, Matt Reeves, it’s so good. It’s extraordinary.”

Farrell went on to add that he’s only in it “a little,” before Robbie jokingly told him to stop giving away secrets. He sarcastically replied that he’s “in it loads” and that the film is “about me.”

It’s apparent that Farrell is truly blown away by the script for The Batman Part II, and at the very least, fans now know that he’s definitely going to have a role in the film, which is slated to begin filming in spring of 2026.

Farrell’s performance in The Batman helped spark the HBO series The Penguin, which went on to win several awards. There have been talks of a Season 2 for The Penguin, but there hasn’t been a significant cut-and-dry update on that just yet.

The Batman Part II is slated to hit theaters on Oct. 1, 2027.
