GROVETOWN, Ga. (WJBF) – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Thursday deputies are investigating the death of a 4-month-old in Grovetown.
As confirmed by Major Steve Morris, the death took place June 12 at a home daycare at a residence on Fieldstone Road in Grovetown.
The woman operating the day care told deputies she laid the baby down to sleep on a bed in the master bedroom around 10:30 a.m. She said she discovered the child unresponsive approximately two hours later.
The woman called 911 and began performing CPR. The infant was transported to Doctors Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
