EVANS, Ga. (WJBF)- It’s a chance to dance the night away this weekend. A special event is taking place tomorrow at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center.
This event is called “Dancing with the Stars” and it’s for people with special needs.
Organizers say the idea is to give them a night of fun and celebration.
It’s for ages 16 and older. There will be a DJ, refreshments, and shining lights.
And the best part is, you don’t have to dress up.
You can wear anything from shorts, sandals, jeans, skirts, a tuxedo or prom dress.
“Usually we do a lot of things for the younger kids that are more inclusive. So we wanted to try something for an age range that we haven’t done before. So we’re trying it with the older teenagers and adults to see how it goes. Hopefully it goes really good and then we can do some more of these events and look at some options that we have with the older adults,” said Janet Wheatley, Columbia County Programs and Events Manager.
