The Constitutional Court (TC) has already assessed the CDU appeal and agreed to the request to recount the votes in polling station number 28 of the polling station in the parish of São Domingos de Benfica, something that will be carried out in the near future by the general counting assembly, according to the Observer.
In the current scenario, with the decisions taken, the coalition headed by João Ferreira was just one vote behind Chega and will continue to dream of the possibility of re-electing councilor Ana Jara, who had lost her seat to Chega’s second councilor, Ana Simões Silva.
Chega had 26,754 votes across the municipality, while the CDU had 26,753.
A week ago, the general counting assembly had announced that Chega obtained 26,755 votes in Lisbon, three more than the CDU, confirming the distribution of mandates of two councilors for Chega and one for the coalition. However, the CDU filed an appeal, claiming that there were 60 votes to be counted in the parish of São Domingos de Benfica, in Lisbon, “which were not counted” on the day of the local elections.
