Daniel Bannister, who stalked Girls Aloud star Cheryl, has been jailed for 12 months after breaching his restraining order.

The 50-year-old convicted killer was arrested after turning up at the singer’s home for the fourth time.

Judge Alan Blake at Reading Crown Court in Buckinghamshire sentenced Bannister to a year behind bars and told him ‘she does not wish any contact with you’.

He has previously spent time in prison for breaching the restraining order but reportedly ‘can’t stay away’ from Cheryl, 42.

The judge told him: ‘She does not wish any contact with you and you are causing her anxiety.

‘You have shown defiance to the court order. You need to draw a line under that behaviour.’

Cheryl said she was ‘stunned’ he had attempted to visit her home yet again, adding that she has been forced to hire personal security.

‘Each time he returns, the worry of his intentions intensifies,’ she said.

‘I’m worried, nervous and on edge every time I open my gate. No person should have to feel this way.’

She noted that Bannister’s actions had made her ‘young child scared’. Bear, eight, is the son of the late One Direction star, Liam Payne.

He told the court he believed the singer had invited him to her home over Microsoft Teams.

He was initially jailed for four months in September last year, where he was handed a three-year restraining order, but breached it by turning up at her home in December.

In March, Bannister was sent to jail for 16 weeks after admitting to going to her home and ringing the bell at the gate on December 10 last year, weeks after Payne’s funeral.
