There’s intense drama coming up in Coronation Street as a despised villain turns up in Weatherfield – and several people are in grave danger.

Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) is currently behind bars awaiting trial for the murder of PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith). In his absence, his family has been struggling without him.

We’ve seen his wife Lou (Farrel Hegarty) having run-ins with various people as she’s scrambled to hold her family together. Brody (Ryan Mulvey)’s world was recently turned upside down when he found out that Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), not Mick, is his biological father.

Mick and Lou’s daughters Shanice (Molly Kilduff) and Joanie (Savanna Pennington) have been deeply affected by what’s happened to Mick, and Tim and Sally Metcalfe (Joe Duttine and Sally Dynevor) have been doing what they can to support them.

On Monday, July 14, Mick orchestrates a prison break and plans to run away with Brody, Joanie and Shanice.

His first port of call is Weatherfield High but when he realises that Joanie has been taken home from school by Sally, he makes his way to the cobbles.

As an enthused Sally offers Joanie a tour of Underworld, Mick has arrived on the street looking for his children.

But Kit has been made aware of the development and is racing to try and find his enemy.

What has Mick got planned and will Kit be able to stop him?

Discussing this story development, star Joe Layton said: ‘He isn’t after revenge, this is about him wanting to get his family together and start a new life with them.

‘The anger that we saw when he killed Craig has been replaced by desperation and love for his family, but that doesn’t make him any less dangerous. Kit is potentially putting his life on the line once more in his attempts to stop Mick.’

Mick’s escape episode airs on ITVX and YouTube at 7am on Monday July 14 and on ITV at 8pm.
