Coronation Street legend Kym Marsh has announced her next role – and it isn’t a return to the cobbles.
When Kym announced her exit from BBC school drama Waterloo Road earlier this year, Corrie fans began theorising that she would return to the ITV soap – though it appears this isn’t the case.
Instead, Kym is set to tread the boards once more as she takes on the lead role of Hedy in the UK and Ireland tour of Single White Female.
The play, which is adapted by Rebecca Reid from the film of the same name and the book SWF Seeks Same by John Lutz, will hit the stage in January 2026.
Taking to Instagram, Kym shared her excitement at taking on the new role.
‘Aarrgghhh! I am so excited to announce that I’ll be playing Hedy in this brand new stage adaptation of 90s blockbuster Single White Female,’ she wrote.
‘I remember being gripped when I first saw it in the cinema and I can’t wait to be part of the team that brings it to life on stage.
‘The UK and Ireland tour starts in January and you can find the link for dates, venues and tickets in my bio!’ She finished, warning fans to ‘Watch out for the stilettos!’.
Her new venture was supported in the comments by several of her famous friends, with Corrie star Claire Sweeney writing: ‘Well done darling.’
‘Can’t wait to watch you,’ fellow Corrie alum Helen Flanagan added.

Kym starred as Michelle Connor in Coronation Street from 2006 until 2019, when the character left to start a new life with family in Ireland.
Michelle was part of some big storylines during her time on the cobbles, including the discovery that her son had been swapped at birth, the deaths of both of her brothers, a stalking ordeal, and a shooting.
Perhaps her most moving storyline saw her tragically lose son Ruairi after going into early labour.
Before her exit, Michelle was involved in a dramatic love triangle that saw her discover that fiancé Robert Preston was leading a double life, having got Vicky Jefferies pregnant.

Following the discovery, Michelle and Vicky teamed up to get revenge on Robert by framing him for Vicky’s murder. However, they scrapped their plan when Vicky went into labour while in hiding, with Michelle forced to deliver the baby.
After leaving the show, Kym starred in several stage productions including the stage adaptation of Fatal Attraction and musicals Greatest Days and 101 Dalmatians.
She has also presented BBC Morning Live and was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
More recently, she has played Nicky Walters in Waterloo Road, and tackled difficult topics in her storylines including poverty and grief.
