Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) is all smiles in first look pictures of her upcoming Coronation Street wedding.
Filming is underway for the big day as hotelier Debbie gets set to walk down the aisle to wed one true love Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan).
Cast and crew of the ITV soap were spotted filming on-location for what is surely set to be an emotional day for the characters involved.
Sue Devaney, who has played Debbie across various stints since 1984, was pictured in a stylish white wedding outfit that is everything fashion icon Debbie would adore.
As the cameras rolled, Debbie seemed in good spirits on the big day with her loved ones around her including Carl (Jonathan Howard), Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor).
Jane Hazlegrove and Alan Halsall, who play Bernie Winter and Tyrone Dobbs respectively, were also spotted during the shoot.
Debbie, as viewers know, was recently diagnosed with early on-set dementia.
The storyline kicked off in April when she began to experience symptoms, including memory lapses. Assuming it might be related to the menopause, she booked an appointment at a private clinic.
Emotional scenes ensued in the weeks that followed, as a neurologist formally diagnosed her with a life-changing illness.
Fans were devastated when the storyline was announced for Debbie, who remains one of the most popular in the show. Star Sue, however, confirmed that Debbie won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
‘We wanted to do the diagnosis and get that sorted and then do the journey of living with dementia’, she said on Lorraine earlier this year.
‘She’s not going anywhere yet! I know the story is going to go on well into 2027, so Debbie’s not going anywhere.’
News of her diagnosis left Debbie shaken and she subsequently decided to keep the information to herself – and even ended things with longtime love Ronnie.
Ronnie, however, refused to give up without a fight and, upon learning of Debbie’s diagnosis, he doubled down on his stance, determined to support her as he popped the question.
Debbie’s dementia was revealed to her loved ones in June.
Abi (Sally Carman) and Carl (Jonathan Howard), who were secretly having an affair, were both alarmed when Debbie walked in on their chat about their feelings for each other – though they were soon worried when they realised that Debbie was unresponsive.
When she came to, she had no recollection of the incident and her family insisted that she needed to go to the hospital to find out what had happened.
Realising that they weren’t going to give up, Debbie explained that she didn’t need to go to the hospital for a diagnosis, as she already had one, confirming her dementia.
The news left everyone emotional.
Kevin, however, fell out with Debbie earlier this month when he discovered that she knew all about Abi’s affair with Carl and didn’t tell him. This led to conflict between the brother and sister duo.
But in upcoming scenes, Kev breaks down and tells Debbie he misses her, admitting that life simply hasn’t been the same since they fell out and he’d like to put their differences behind them.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on YouTube and ITVX.
