Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) was left devastated in tonight’s Coronation Street when son Kit Green’s (Jacob Roberts) comments struck below the belt.
The relationship between Bernie and Kit has been a turbulent one ever since Bernie managed to track down the son she had given up for adoption many years ago.
Things have only grown more complicated in recent weeks, following the confirmation that Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) was actually Kit’s biological son.
In recent scenes, Kit was left fighting for his life after being stabbed by long-term rival Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), who had escaped prison hoping to run away with his family.
Tonight, Kit faced further complications, but when he finally came round, it only caused heartache for Bernie and Brody.
With Brody having been told by Mick that he no longer saw him as a son and wanted nothing to do with him, Bernie was keen to support her grandson and hoped that Kit would agree.
Unfortunately, Kit made it clear that he didn’t want to deal with Brody right now, which left the teen upset.
Furious that she had interfered, Kit turned on Bernie and cruelly accused her of using Brody to replace son Paul.
Viewers will know that Paul tragically passed away last year after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
As Bernie urged Kit not to push Brody away, as he would regret it later, Kit accused her of making the situation about her, blaming her guilt and grief over Paul for her interference.
Upset at his accusations that she was lining Brody up as a replacement for Paul, Bernie left the hospital without a word.
Will she forgive Kit for his harsh words, or will their relationship be fractured forever?
