This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
Abi Webster (Sally Carman) finally called time on her marriage to Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in tonight’s Coronation Street, though she may live to regret it – or not, as the case may be.
Viewers will know that the marriage has been on the rocks for a long time, but even more so since the arrival of Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard).
Carl and Abi had chemistry from the moment they first laid eyes on each other, and it was only a matter of time before they fell into bed together.
They tried to resist temptation for as long as possible, but Abi’s resolve crumbled when she learnt that Kevin had lied about needing further cancer treatment.
Since then, she and Carl have been having secret rendezvous’ whenever the fancy takes them, and Kev has been nonethewiser.

They came very close to being caught out last week when Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) arranged to meet Kev to tell him everything after Carl refused to continue paying her hush money.
However, after he had her shop trashed and her dad threatened, she abandoned her blackmail plot, much to Abi and Carl’s relief.
What happens in tonight’s Coronation Street?
In tonight’s episode, things got too much for Abi when Kev got the good news that his cancer had gone and decided to start looking to the future.
As he suggested getting a dog or buying a car, Abi realised that she didn’t want to pretend to be happy any more, and promptly ended things, leaving Kevin gobsmacked.
Unfortunately, before they had time to discuss the matter further, they were dragged to the Rovers for a celebratory drink with Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), who had no idea of the turmoil the couple were going through.

They tried to put on brave faces to appease Debbie, but when Carl arrived, all hell broke loose, as Kevin ordered him outside for a chat.
In the Rovers’ beer garden, Kev accused Carl of having an affair with Abi, which he vehemently denied.
Once they were alone, Abi and Carl decided that it was best to keep their relationship quiet for a while longer so as not to hurt Kevin.
At home with Debbie, having filled her in on the break-up, Kev lamented how he knew there was something on, before asserting that if he found out Carl and Abi had been sleeping together, he would kill them both.
Do Carl and Abi need to watch their backs?
