Coronation Street and Waterloo Road star Kym Marsh has shared a heartbreaking post after losing her dad 18 months ago.
Kym’s dad David Marsh was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2021.
In a segment on Morning Live, which Kym sometimes co-presents, Dave opened up about how he had put off seeing a doctor about his symptoms because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The father and daughter duo often discussed his prostate cancer journey, keen to raise awareness of the importance of getting symptoms checked out.
In early 2024, a spokesperson representing Kym shared the devastating news that he had passed away.
A statement said: ‘It is with immense sadness that we confirm the passing of David Marsh.

‘A much-loved husband, dad, grandad, great grandad, and friend to many, David passed away peacefully at home on Friday surrounded by his family.’
‘We are truly heartbroken and ask for privacy at this incredibly difficult time,’ it concluded to the PA news agency.
Following the announcement, Kym took to social media to pay tribute to her dad, where she was inundated with messages of support.
Now, Kym has taken to Instagram once more to share how the loss still affects her.
‘Some days I just need my dad,’ she wrote, alongside a selfie of them smiling together.
‘Oh dad I miss you,’ she continued, adding a string of broken heart emojis.

Before he died, Kym honoured Dave with a tattoo dedicated to him.
In a sweet video, she revealed the tattoo of an ice cream, Dave’s favourite food, on her arm, capturing his reaction.
After his funeral, Kym revealed that she had put a five-pound note in his coffin after finding it in her car.
‘Every time Dad came on Morning Live, he would say to Gethin, “She’s still not given me that fiver”. It was a constant running joke.
‘Shortly after dad passed away, I randomly found a five pound note in my car. I don’t know if people believe in stuff like this but I don’t know how it got there.
‘I put that in the coffin with dad and I said: “There you go dad, I’ve given you your fiver now”.’
Kym added to The Sun: ‘Whether you believe in it or not, it’s not wrong to take comfort from something.’

Soap fans will best know Kym as Coronation Street’s Michelle Connor, who she played between 2006 and 2019.
During that time, she had some major storylines, including three weddings, a terrifying stalking ordeal and a heartbreaking baby loss storyline.
More recently, she has played Nicky Walters in BBC school-based drama Waterloo Road, and is set to appear in the upcoming series.
However, she announced her exit from the show earlier this year, and has since jetted to Australia to film a new project, alongside Neighbours icon Jackie Woodburne.
