Actress Vicky Myers has issued an apology after having to pull out of the upcoming Coronation Street tour.
This comes as fans have heaped praise on the actress for her performance as Lisa Swain in tonight’s episode, following the return of ‘dead’ wife Becky Swain (Amy Cudden).
It was announced earlier this year that several stars from the cobbles will be heading on tour for An Audience with Coronation Street, which will be hosted by This Morning’s Sharon Marshall.
Despite having been on the line-up for the event in Glasgow, Vicky has had to pull out because of scheduling conflicts.
Taking to Instagram, the actress released a statement apologising to fans for the disappointment.
‘I’m so, so sorry to miss the Glasgow show for An Audience with Coronation Street on 24th September,’ she wrote.
‘Due to unavoidable last-minute schedule changes, I won’t be able to be there. Every possible scheduling option was explored, however it is just not possible I’m afraid.
‘This was completely out of my control.’
She continued by announcing which cast member is set to take her place.
‘In my place I am delighted that the legend and utterly glorious ‘Sunshine Sue Devaney’ will be joining the line-up instead – she’s going to be amazing, she IS amazing!’
Viewers will know that Sue plays Debbie Webster, and is currently in the middle of a huge storyline that has seen the character diagnosed with young-onset dementia.
Vicky finished her statement by saying: ‘I know it’ll be an incredible evening celebrating 65 years of Corrie magic. I’ll be there in spirit.’
The official Coronation Street social media accounts also released a statement on the matter, reiterating that the cancellation of Vicky’s appearance was due to ‘an unavoidable and complicated change in her filming schedule’.
‘Vicky is very sad that she’s unable to be there,’ the statement continued, before finishing: ‘Please note it’s important to understand she had no prior knowledge or influence on her schedule.’
It sounds like there is a lot still to come for Lisa Swain on the cobbles, following her engagement to Carla Connor (Alison King) and the return from the dead of wife Becky.
Vicky has already been showered with praise for her performance in tonight’s episode, which sees Lisa grapple with the fact that Becky is still alive.
Fans on Twitter/X have been blown away, with Meg writing: ‘nah vicky is insane in today’s ep!!’
‘Vicky Myers, take a bow,’ Khalilah agreed, while Maddie added: ‘vicky’s acting in today’s episode?!?? give her all of the awards’.
‘Vicky myers was absolutely INCREDIBLE in todays corrie oh my,’ Els said, while Ceri wrote: ‘vicky myers gave the performance of her LIFE in today’s episode, i felt every single emotion she conveyed, im in awe’.
