Costco’s Viral Chocolate Brand Recalled for Serious Health Risk

Rolling Pin Baking Co., the company serving Costco customers their popular Dubai-Style Chocolate (item #1932972), has issued a voluntary statement regarding a mislabeled allergen on their packaging.

What Ingredient Was Mislabeled On The Chocolate?

The allergen statement on the packaging states “gluten” rather than “wheat”. However, given that gluten is found in wheat, the company expects the health risk to be minimal. Additionally, Kunefa, made with crispy phyllo used in Dubai-style chocolate, which is listed in the ingredients list of this product, is commonly known to be made with wheat.

Rolling Pin Co. is hoping this piece of information is helpful for customers who have a wheat allergy or intolerance.

The trend of creating different desserts with these flavors is all over the world, with recipe developers and restaurants creating Dubai-style chocolate parfaits, cake, cheesecake bars, cookies, truffles, brownies and bark.
