The federal deputy of Morena, Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravodownplayed the criticism that arose after a video was broadcast in which he appears playing paddle tennis during an ordinary session of the Budget Commission, in which he participated semi-in-person.
When questioned in the Chamber of Deputies, the former soccer player He stated that, if he receives a sanction, he will assume the consequences and pay the corresponding fine.
“I love paddle tennis, thank God I’m an athlete and I don’t just play paddle tennis, I play basketball. I did some studies at Médica Sur, you may ask. Because I need to exercise.
“Because after nine years I was with the Municipal Presidency, then I was Governor of a State, my heart needs to exercise again. […] and you will always be able to see me play soccer, paddle tennis, squash […] “I assume my responsibilities and if they want to fine me, then fine me,” declared.
Blanco Bravo remotely followed this Monday’s session in which the favorable opinion of the National Water Law was approved, however, during the vote he made a mistake and asked to take the attendance roll instead of casting his vote.
Serene and smiling, The deputy admitted that he was playing paddle tennis, but assured that he did so hours before joining the session. He assured that the mistake occurred because it took him a while to connect since he did not have the telephone number that the Chamber gives them for that purpose.
He explained that he used his personal phone and had no signal to take roll call on time.
“There was no signal, because it was all the way to the Desert of Lions, so, “I am not going to fall for your provocations and as Monreal said, well I assume my responsibilities and if you want to fine me then fine me,” he explained.
“Hasn’t Deputy Monreal called you?” he was asked.
“No, I came here to take attendance and then here to the commission,” he declared.
Regarding the mockery made by his fellow deputies of the Budget Commissionwho exposed him for playing paddle tennis and told him that he didn’t even know what he was voting for, Cuauhtémoc Blanco said that PRI member Mario Zamora is his friend and he is a very joking person.
“That deputy says that I don’t know what I’m voting for, I get along very well with him, I don’t have any problems with him, he’s always been like that. He’s very joking but nothing happens, I take responsibility for what happened and nothing more,” he concluded.
