The National Water Commission (Conagua) announced that, as of October 27, the Cutzamala System reached 97.3% of its total capacity, with 762 million cubic meters (mm3). This volume exceeds the 243 mm³ that was recorded at this same time last year.
This increase in the storage level is mainly due to the rains in the three dams that make up this system, and with this volume “it is estimated that the water supply from this source is guaranteed for the next two years,” he indicated.

In a statement, Conagua specified that the three dams that make up the system register the following levels: Villa Victoria is at 94.26% of its capacity; Valle de Bravo reached 98.23%, and El Bosque presented a filling of 98.64 percent.
Due to the increase in levels in the dams that make up the Cutzamala, and to avoid spills in them, Conagua recalled that last week the water supply that reaches the capital of the country and the State of Mexico was increased.
He specified that the extraction flow of the dams that make up the system was increased to 15.7 cubic meters per second (m³/s), so the average water supplied to CDMX—through the Secretariat of Comprehensive Water Management (Segiagua)—went from 6.1 m³/s to 9.4 m³/s, and in the State of Mexico it increased from 4.6 m³/s to 6.3 m³/s.

On October 17, SUN announced in its pages that with the increase in the levels of the Cutzamala System dams after the rainy season, the supply of water reaching Mexico City has been increasing compared to what arrived during the same time last year.
For example, in the week of September 29 and October 5, the average flow supplied to Segiagua was 6,141 cubic meters per second (that is, 6,141 liters of water per second), of the 10,877 m³/s that was supplied to the Valley of Mexico; while the remaining 4,736 m³/s went to the Water Commission of the State of Mexico (CAEM), according to the most recent report of the Technical Committee for the Operation of Hydraulic Works of the National Water Commission (Conagua).
