Earlier this month, authorities made quite a grim discovery as they found the decaying and dismembered body of a 15-year-old girl in the trunk of a car belonging to 20-year-old singer D4vd. While the singer initially decided to continue his world tour despite the finding, it’s now clear that’s not going to happen.
While D4vd has not been arrested or named a suspect and has indicated through a spokesperson that he intends to cooperate fully with the investigation into the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, it does not sound like the singer will be performing or releasing new music anytime soon.
What We Know So Far
- A decomposing body was found inside a Tesla belonging to musician D4vd at an impound lot in Hollywood on Sept. 8.
- The car was brought to the impound lot after “someone reported it abandoned” in Hollywood Hills, and police were called after workers “reported a strong odor” coming from the Tesla.
- The Tesla was never reported as stolen.
- The body was discovered inside a bag in the Tesla’s front trunk. The remains were not intact and had badly decomposed.
- The remains were so decomposed that it took authorities more than a week to identify the body.
- The remains were eventually identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas.
- D4vd has a matching tattoo with Rivas, and her mother said she has been missing for over a year and that her daughter’s boyfriend was named David.
- D4vd initially decided to continue his world tour while cooperating with the investigation, but he cancelled the remainder of his tour on Wednesday.
- An unreleased love song written by D4vd references someone by the name of “Celeste” in the unfinished title and twice in the lyrics.
- Police raided a home connected to D4vd as they continue the investigation.

D4vd Initially Planned to Continue His Tour
After the initial news of the body discovered in the car of D4vd, the artist initially decided that he would continue his world tour with a spokesperson indicating that he would cooperate with the investigation from afar while continuing to perform in front of fans.
“D4vd has been informed about what’s happened. And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities,” a spokesperson for the singer said hours after the body was found in his car.
D4vd went on to perform five more shows in Minneapolis, Kansas City, Denver, Salt Lake City, and Portland before he decided to cancel the remainder of his U.S. tour dates after the body in the car was identified and the victim appeared to have some connections to the singer.
European Tour Canceled, Too
While the remainder of his shows in the United States were gradually canceled last week, the European leg of D4vd’s world tour was still slated to begin on Oct. 1. However, it sounds like D4vd has decided to cancel those performances, too.
On the Ticketmaster website, all of D4vd’s European shows, which were set to take place between Oct. 1 and Nov. 1, are now listed as “cancelled.”
It’s worth noting that D4vd is currently still scheduled to perform four shows in Australia in December as the Ticketmaster website still allows fans to purchase tickets, though those performances could be cancelled as well.
D4vd Loses Partnerships
Though D4vd has not been arrested or named as a suspect in the case, he has already felt some financial losses as a result of the investigation.
Hollister and Crocs have dropped their partnership with the young artist, and Interscope, his record label, has halted all “musical promotion,” including for his “upcoming deluxe album.”
However, due in large part to the high-profile murder investigation, which has made national headlines for the past several weeks, D4vd has actually seen his streaming numbers surge in recent weeks, becoming one of the most popular artists on the planet.
Status of the Investigation
While the body was found in his car, a house linked to D4vd was raided, and public evidence appears to link him to the victim, D4vd has not been arrested, charged, or even listed as a suspect in the death of the 15-year-old girl.
One expert recently weighed in on why the artist has not yet been arrested or even questioned, suggesting that authorities are waiting to acquire key evidence.
