Lily Allen got a kiss from Dakota Johnson last night as she sang on Saturday Night Live.
The 40-year-old singer appeared on the live comedy variety show on Saturday night as the music act of the night.
She sang her song Madeline – which appears on her album West End Girl – and features a spoken message from ‘Madeline’.
Dakota, who appeared in Black Mass with David Harbour in 2015, played Madeline in the performance and spoke the lines attributed to the character from a bed behind a gossamer veil.
‘I hate that you’re in so much pain right now. I really don’t wanna be the cause of any upset. He told me that you were aware this was going on and that he had your full consent,’ said Dakota from a bed on the stage.
The actress continued, ‘If he’s lying about that, then please let me know. Because I have my own feelings about dishonesty. Lies are not something that I wanna get caught up in.’
‘You can reach out to me any time, by the way. If you need any more details or you just need to vent or anything.’
She then walked out from behind the curtain behind the singer.
‘Love and light, Madeline,’ she said before tilting her head to lay a kiss on the star’s cheek.
They then hugged as the crowd cheered the performance on.
‘OMG Dakota Johnson as Madeline was the surprise we didn’t know we needed! Iconic cameo,’ said one fan on X.
‘What a cool surprise. Dakota Johnson showing up for Lily Allen’s SNL performance is amazing. Great way to promote her new movie,’ said another.
The 14-song record has had rave reviews and tells the semi-fictional story of the singer and 50-year-old Stranger Things star’s four-year marriage/
In songs including Madeline and Tennis, Lily accuses Harbour of cheating, gaslighting and lying in their relationship, which she made open so he could ‘discreetly’ sleep with ‘strangers’ for which there would ‘have to be payment’.
Dakota isn’t the first of David Harbour’s former co-stars and exes to have supported West End Girl.
Florence Pugh, who stars as David Harbour’s on-screen daughter Yelena in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and appeared together in the 2025 film Thunderbolts, has liked several of Lily’s posts about the album.
Harbour’s ex-girlfriend Alison Sudol has shown her support for West End Girl by replying with seven flame emojis to Lily’s post promoting the record.
Milla Jovovich, who starred next to David Harbour in 2019 film Hellboy, has also liked a number of Lily’s posts promoting West End Girl.
