FRANKFURT / LONDON (IT BOLTWISE) – The DAX is weak this week as disappointing corporate figures and upcoming interest rate decisions from central banks unsettle investors. While the German leading index is lagging behind its international counterparts, weak forecasts from Symrise and Deutsche Börse are causing additional uncertainty. At the same time, DHL Group and Nordex surprise with positive prospects.

The German stock market is showing a rather cautious side this week. The DAX, the most important German stock market index, was unable to break away from its previous day’s close on Tuesday and hovered around the 24,314 point mark. This development is primarily due to disappointing corporate outlooks and the upcoming interest rate decisions by central banks, which are putting investors in a wait-and-see attitude.
Compared to other international stock exchanges that are experiencing a record rally, the DAX is lagging behind its potential. Investors were particularly disappointed by the company figures from Symrise and Deutsche Börse. Symrise, a leading manufacturer of fragrances and flavors, had to revise its growth forecasts for the current year downwards, resulting in a share price decline of almost 5 percent.
On the other hand, the DHL Group was able to benefit from a positive sales forecast from the US logistics group UPS and recorded a share price increase of 1.1 percent. Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex also surprised with an optimistic profit forecast, causing shares to skyrocket by almost 19 percent. However, these positive developments contrast with the challenges faced by other companies such as Suss Microtec and Procredit Holding.
Suss Microtec, a semiconductor supplier, had to lower its margin expectations after a weak quarter, resulting in a dramatic share price loss of over 23 percent. Procredit Holding is also faced with impending loan defaults, which endanger the return target for the current year. These developments show that the German stock market is currently characterized by uncertainties that are influenced by both company-specific and macroeconomic factors.
