April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) is desperate to get out from Ray Walters’ (Joe Absolom) circle in Emmerdale.
He’s cleverly dragged her into his drugs ring by making her believe she owes thousands and thousands in lost drugs, successfully keeping her in his clutches until she pays off her debt, which right now seems impossible.
Added to her anguish is the fact she’s trying to keep her illegal side hustle a secret from her loving family, who just want the best for her.
She has no choice, Ray has her by the short and curlies and she will have to continue to do his bidding until he says otherwise, and right now her goal is to pay off that debt as fast as possible.
April is getting ballsy and Dylan (Fred Kettle) is shocked to find her selling drugs outside university halls. Smart or stupid, he can’t decide, and begs Ray to let her go before she gets herself into serious trouble.
Ray is ready for the tug at the heartstrings and instead turns it back on Dylan with some emotional blackmail and promises that he’ll speak to the ‘big bosses’ to see what he can do.
There are no big bosses, they are him. A helpless Dylan relents and agrees April can keep doing what she’s doing – he believes once they’ve paid off the debt they’ll be allowed to leave.
But April is struggling with her double life. Rhona (Zoe Henry) asks her to babysit Leo, but when Ray demands she do a job, she is torn before deciding to bow to Ray’s will. She leaves Leo alone to do as she’s told, but as she rushes off, she drops pills from her bag.
Satisfied she’s been able to juggle everything, April heads home to be with Leo. But her neglect has had serious consequences – she finds Leo being bundled into an ambulance.

At the hospital, the police and social services are contacted, and Rhona is immediately suspicious of her stepdaughter. Backed into an emotional corner, April prepares to confess but sees the police officers and flees instead.
Terrified that her stepbrother might die because of her, April tells Dylan that she needs to come clean, but she has no idea Ray has overheard.
While everyone prays for Leo, no one realises they need to pray for April, who is now a big problem for Ray that he needs to sort.
What will he do to keep her quiet?
